   Pitching Skills Challenge Test #1

Club Selection:Highest lofted club in your bag
Target:Select a spot 5 paces from putting surface to a pin location that is cut near edge of green.
Test:Pitch 20 shots to the a target circle 6 feet radius around a hole.
Score:Multiply the total number of pitches that stay within the 6 foot target area by 5 to get your score. This is your pitching percentage.. Write your score on your Player Development score card.

   Review of Fundamentals

There are three fundamentals to pitching the ball well.

1. Strike the ball solidly.
2. Hit the ball with the correct trajectory
3. Hit the ball the correct distance

   Pitching Development Drill #1 - Correct Trajectory

Drill Setup:Select a spot in the rough 5 yards from green; use your most lofted wedge.  Set golf bag 3 feet in front of you
Target:Mark off from pin 6 feet on each side, front and behind.
Test:Lob balls over bag to target. Hit 20 shots in total.
Score:After completing 20 pitch shots, multiply the total number of shots you made by 5 to get your score; this is your pitching percentage. Write your score on your Player Development score card.

   Pitching Development Drill #2 - Correct Distance

Drill Setup:Select a spot in the rough 15-20 feet off the green. Use your most lofted Wedge. 
Target:Target area should be close to side of green.  Mark off from pin 6 feet on each side, front and behind.
Test:Hit 20 balls into target area.
Score:After completing 20 pitch shots, multiply the total number of shots you made by 5 to get your score; this is your pitching percentage. Write your score on your Player Development score card.

   Chipping Challenge

Club Selection:Variety of clubs can be used, note which you choose on your Player Development Score Card.
Target:Select a spot on the fringe or fairway near the putting surface. Chip to a pin location that is cut 10 - 15 paces from you.
Test:Chip 20 balls to a 6 foot circle, a 3 foot radius around the cup.
Score:Multiply the total number of balls that stay within the 6 foot target circle by 5 to get your score. This is your chipping percentage. Write your score on your Player Development score card.

   Chipping Fundamentals

There are three fundamentals to chipping the ball well.

1. Strike the ball solidly.
2. Start on the intended line.
3. Hit the correct distance
4. Reading the slope.

   Chipping Vs. Pitching

A Chip Shot is a low shot that rolls more than it flies. It is used when you are close to the green, but you can’t putt.
A Pitch Shot is a higher lofted shot, used when you want the ball to fly a greater distance than it rolls.

   Chipping Development Drill #1 – Hitting the ball solidly & hitting the ball in the right spot on the club face

Drill Setup:Set the ball down beside the green, in the short grass.  Put a tee just outside of the toe of the club.
Target:Hit the ball in front of where the tee is placed.
Test:Hit 20 chip shots.
Score:After completing 20 chip shots, multiply the total number of shots that you made correctly by 5 to get your score. This is your chipping percentage. Write your score on your Player Development score card.

   Chipping Development Drill #2 – Distance Control

Club Selection:6 iron
Drill Setup:Set the ball down beside the green, in the short grass.
Target:Create a 6 foot circle using tees on the north, south, east and west of the cup.
Test:Hit 20 chip shots.
Score:After completing 20 chip shots, multiply the total number of shots you made correctly by 5 to get your score. This is your chipping percentage. Write your score on your Player Development score card.

   Putting Challenge

Club Selection:Putter
Target:Select 4 spots on the practice putting green, each 9 feet from the hole.
Test: Hit 20 putts in total. 5 balls from each designated starting point.
Score:After completing 20 putts, multiply the total number of putts you made by 5 to get your score. This is your putting percentage. Write your score on your Player Development score card.

   Distance Control Drill: Ladder Drill

Club Selection:Putter
Drill Setup:Put a tee in the ground, take 4 paces about 12 ft, place second tee in the ground, repeat 4 times, you will have putts from 12ft, 15ft, 18ft, 21ft, 24ft.
Target:Hit first putt between the 1st and 2nd tees, hit second putt between 2nd and 3rd tees etc.
Test:Hit 4 balls between each tee for a total of 20 putts
Score:After completing 20 putts, multiply the total number of shots you made by 5 to get your score; this is your putting percentage. Write your score on your Player Development score card.

   Approach/Iron Shot Challenge

Club Selection:7 Iron
Target:Designate a target on the driving range or fairway approximately 10 yards wide. Record the distance you are attempting on your Player Development Score Card.
Test:Hit 20 shots at the designated target.
Score:Multiply the total number of balls that land within the target area by 5 to get your score. This is your Approach Shot percentage. Enter your score on your Player Development score card.

Driving Videos

   Driving Accuracy Challenge

Club Selection:Driver
Target:Select target area approx 40 yards wide. Do your best in selecting an area that simulates a fairway on a golf course. Use the same target each time you take the test.
Test:Hit 20 drives. Count the number of drives that land in the target area.
Score:Multiply the total number of balls that land within the target area by 5 to get your score; this is your Fairway percentage. Write your score on your Player Development score card.
