Here are some friendly etiquette tips for all golfers:
- Be quiet while your playing partner is hitting.
- Do not step in your partner’s line on the putting green.
- Keep your shadow out of your playing partner’s line.
- Replace your divot.
- Repair your ball mark on the green as well as any others you see.
- Play ready golf when possible to maintain pace of play.
- Keep up the pace of play and if you cannot, waive the group behind you through.
- Be ready to play when it’s your turn.
- Do not write down your score on the green while others are waiting to hit.
- Do not practice after missing a putt if other people are waiting to hit up.
- Rake the bunker and leave it in better condition than when you entered it.
- Tap down spike marks after you putt to make the green smoother for players behind you.
- Compliment your playing partners when they hit a good shot.
- Hold the flag part of stick while you are tending it so it does not flap in the wind.
- Keep your golf bag off the green at all times.
- Keep golf carts on the path unless local rules allow otherwise.
- Do not use profanity on the golf course.
- Do not throw clubs.
- Yell “Fore” if your ball is heading towards somebody.
