Full Time Junior Golf Boarding School
For the past 30 years, Hank Haney has been crafting the best approach to helping junior golfers exceed their potential. At Hank Haney International Junior Golf Academy (Hank Haney IJGA), we know how to handle the delicate balance of golf training, fitness, nutrition, mental preparation, course management, competition, and academics to help junior golfers reach the next level of their career.
Located on Hilton Head Island, South Carolina, Hank Haney IJGA is the only junior golf academy in the world to combine, training, academics, and competition for serious junior golfers. In addition, we are the only academy to have 2 PGA National Teachers of the Year on staff, including Hank Haney and Peter Krause. The Full-Time Program consists of daily golf instruction in full swing, short game, course management, mental preparation, and fitness training. Classes begin in mid-August and take place until the end of May.
College Preparation
In 2009, 94% of Hank Haney IJGA graduating students received a college golf scholarship. Each student works with our Director of College Placement to develop a tournament schedule and resume, ultimately to receive a college golf scholarship. Currently, Hank Haney IJGA has students competing in collegiate golf at some of the best NCAA Division 1 schools in the country including Oklahoma State University, University of Georgia, University of Southern California, Georgia Tech University, University of Alabama, University of Houston, and University of Virginia, to name a few.
Academics
With the rigorous competition and demands of attaining a college athletic scholarship, it is important to have a plan for your academic requirements. To pursue your passion at the collegiate level, your traditional academic schedule consumes valuable training time. Hank Haney IJGA students attend the Heritage Academy, where our split daily schedule allows for students to follow their passion for half the day and fulfill their academic needs for the other half. Dealing with tests on Fridays and Mondays can be difficult when your weekend competition covers either of these days. The Heritage Academy teaching staff, however, is fair and flexible in working with each student’s golf competition demands yet holding students accountable for all course material and make-up testing.
Competition – International Junior Golf Tour (IJGT)
The goal of the IJGT is to provide a platform for junior golfers to increase their tournament experience so they will get noticed by college coaches (photos of trophies and players competing). With over 60 events a season, the IJGT provides junior golfers the opportunity to compete in a premier tournament series at some of America's most prestigious golf courses against highly talented competition. IJGT members have exclusive access to value added services to help families navigate the world of junior golf including college placement and mental training programs.
